Anna Boyd Jefferson

Anna Boyd Jefferson is a second generation ocularist and is certified through NEBO (the National Examining Board of Ocularists).  She is also a member of the American Society of Ocularists.  She has been practicing ocularistry for nearly 15 years and looks forward to many years to come.  When it comes to treating her patients, she cares very deeply about the success of the product and the individual and will go to extraordinary lengths to make sure that not only her patient is satisfied, but the referring physician as well.

Anna is a frequent reviewer of the Journal of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has lectured several times at Duke University Eye center for the ophthalmic technician program.   She has given lectures at several other clinics across the state as well as “Spring Vision Quest” and has a personal mission to raise awareness among eye physicians about what good quality ocularistry entails.

As co-owner, Anna has kept the best tried and true techniques and has blended it with improvements and new research to provide excellent service to her patients.  She holds very high standards for her team as well and is proud of the work and customer service they provide.

When it comes to her philosophy, its fairly simple.  “I try to put myself in my patients’ shoes. They have usually been through a lot by the time they are referred to this practice. I want to provide my patients with an environment where they are comfortable expressing their thoughts without fear of judgement.   I believe the best result comes from a creative partnership between the patient and myself. Additionally, I believe in professional collaboration with my referring physicians.  Every year, I schedule a face to face with new oculoplastic surgeons in the area to learn about their techniques and show them a little about what we do at Carolina Eye Prosthetics.  With this joint approach and collaborative spirit, our mutual patients can know they are getting the best of both schools of thought.”

Anna graduated with a bachelor of arts from the University of Mississippi.  She met her husband, Michael, at Ole Miss where they both played french horn in the orchestra.  They have two children, Harry and Bob, and have three dogs.  Fifi, the patient greeter, is one of them.
